Night # 280

Last night, Sunday, was the 280th night we have spent in this RV according to my "log."  We got it in Oct of 2006.  We still enjoy it and are quite comfortable.  It got down to 37 last night but the little electric heater is sufficient.  Today was clear and low 60's.   We drove the 45 min or so west on Hwy 290 to Fredricksburg; one of our favorite towns to visit.  On the way, we made the usual stop at Wild Seed Farm where Carol got some plants and other gifts, etc.  This place has two buildings of gifts, jams, etc.. as well as a very extensive nursery, pottery and acres and acres of wild flowers they harvest for their seeds.
Fredricksbug is a little town of 10,000 that has become a very popular tourist destination.  The streets are lined with little boutique kinds of places.  It was founded in 1847 by German immigrants who walked up from the port of Galveston. Known as the Peach Capital of TX, it is the home town of Admiral Nimitz and also has the National Museum of the War in the Pacific... which we have been through several times. Very worthwhile visit.

Today, however, the city was packed with tourists as it is spring break week.  Carol hit some favorites shops but we didn't even try to get the intended nice lunch.  We just stopped at WalMart to pick up some things and a steak for supper on the grill.   Another easy day.   A couple more pictures on the blog  HERE
